The function of DTH Pipe
Jul 19, 2018

The function of the drill pipe is to send the DTH Hammer to the bottom of the hole, transmit torque and shaft pressure, and deliver compressed air to the impactor through its central hole. The drill pipe is subjected to complex loads such as shock vibration, torque and axial pressure, and is subjected to abrasive blasting effect on the surface of the slag discharged between the hole wall and the drill pipe. Therefore, the drill pipe is required to have sufficient strength, rigidity and impact toughness. The drill pipe generally adopts a hollow thick arm seamless steel pipe. The diameter of the drill pipe should meet the requirements for slagging.

The drill rod has coupling threads at both ends, one end is coupled to the rotary air supply mechanism, and the other end is coupled to the impactor. A drill bit is mounted on the front end of the impactor. When drilling, the rotary air supply mechanism drives the drilling tool to rotate and supplies the compressed air to the hollow drill pipe. The impactor impacts the drill bit to perform rock drilling, and the gas is pressed out of the hole, and the propulsion mechanism continuously pushes the rotary air supply mechanism and the drilling tool forward. Advance.

The diameter of the drill pipe should meet the requirements of drainage. Since the air supply volume is constant, the return air velocity of the discharge rock dam depends on the size of the annular sectional area between the hole wall and the drill pipe. For bores of a certain diameter, the larger the outer diameter of the drill pipe, the greater the return air speed.
